I am over the moon to announce that one of my poems, “Penelope, the truth”, has been nominated for the 2020 Best of the Net Anthology! I would like to express my deepest thanks and gratitude to the editor of Corvid Queen, Kay Allen, for nominating my work for this anthology. “Penelope, the truth” explores an alternative narrative for Odysseus’ wife, Penelope, while he is away at war for 20 years. The poem draws on a lesser-known mythological account (often attributed to the ancient poet Pindar) that asserts that Penelope in fact had affairs with her many suitors and birthed Pan during Odysseus’ absence rather than remaining faithful to him during the Trojan War. The poem focuses on exploring this alternative account for Penelope, as well as attempting to flesh out her voice and character within the context of this mythological narrative.
Many, many thanks again! It is such an honor to be considered for this anthology!
